Common Types of Airport Space Frames:

1. Flat Plate Space Frame
Structural Characteristics: Composed of double or multiple layers of flat plate-shaped grids, with members primarily bearing axial forces and uniform stress distribution.

2. Curved Surface Shell

3. Hybrid Truss and Space Frame Structure
Structural Characteristics: Reinforcing trusses are embedded in key load-bearing areas (such as skylight openings or large-span areas), forming a hybrid load-bearing system.

Advantages: Combines the integrity of the space frame with the efficient force transmission capacity of the truss, commonly used for irregular or open roofs.

4. Conical Space Frame
Structural Characteristics: Composed of basic units such as square pyramids and triangular pyramids, possessing high spatial stiffness, suitable for large-span buildings with flexible planar shapes.

Advantages: The most common form of flat plate space frame, especially the widely used upright square pyramid space frame.

Its regular member arrangement and flat roof facilitate ceiling installation, pipeline installation, and the installation of skylights.

4. Durable and environmentally friendly characteristics: Through reasonable anti-corrosion and fire-retardant coatings (such as the thick or thin fire-retardant coatings mentioned earlier), the space frame structure has good weather resistance and fire resistance, and proper maintenance can ensure a long service life. At the same time, its on-site assembly is mostly dry work, with low noise and dust pollution, and the steel can be recycled at the end of the building's life cycle, which is in line with the concept of green building and sustainable development.
